Warden: Barry Goodrich

Barry Goodrich Barry Goodrich was named Warden at Coffee Correctional Facility in January 2008. Goodrich most recently served as the assistant warden at CCF. Goodrich has served as assistant warden at Crowley County Correctional Facility and Prairie Correctional Facility. He joined CCA in 1992 as a correctional officer and promoted through the ranks to assistant shift supervisor and chief of security. Prior to his career with CCA, Goodrich served in the U.S. Army for eight years.

Coffee Correctional Facility is located in the southeastern part of Georgia in the peaceful city of Nicholls. The current population of Nicholls is 2,683, which includes the 1,680 inmates housed at our facility. Coffee County is mainly an agricultural area, but also hosts other industries.

Community Activities:

Employees help plan and assist with the Nicholls Annual Family Fun Festival and other local events. Employees are actively involved with the local schools, giving talks to the students on a number of issues related to corrections and crime prevention. We have vowed to be a community partner and actively assist in any way we can. During the holiday season we hold annual food drives and adopt local families in need. We also contribute to several local organizations: Coffee County Chamber of Commerce, Coffee County Lions Club, Douglas Rotary Club, Bacon County Kiwanis Club, Sponsor for the Coffee County High Booster Club, American Cancer Society Relay for Life, March of Dimes and several others.

Visitation Schedule:

Visitation schedule rotates every quarter, so visitors may call to see when next rotation will take place.

Visitation Rules:

  1. The vistation officer shall make positive identification of each visitor and record each visit. Visitors are required to sign in at the admission desk.
  2. Visitors age 16 and above must provide approved photo identification, driver's license, military or student identification.
  3. Inmates shall be permitted in the visitation room only with clean institutional issued clothing. The institution dress code will be strictly enforced.
  4. Visitors are reminded that they are in a correctional institution and are subject to being searched. Visitors should be dressed in suitable clothing. No shorts, crop tops, see-through or otherwise revealing clothing. Also, clothing bearing gang affiliation will not be permitted.
  5. No money shall be given to an inmate during visitation.
  6. Only items purchased in visitation, such as drinks or food purchased from the vending machines, are allowed during visitation.
  7. The only items permissible in the institution are keys, picture I.D., $10 in change (paper bills are not allowed), 1 diaper (extra diapers will be stored at visitation desk and used as needed and may be picked up after visitation), 1 plastic baby bottle. Radios, cameras, tape recording devices, cellular phones and pagers are not allowed inside the facility. No pets are allowed into or on the facility property, with the only exception being those animals who are necessary for the legally blind persons.
  8. The consumption of alcoholic beverages is strictly prohibited on facility property. Evidence of use of alcohol/stimulants by visitors shall be justification for denial of visit.
  9. Items authorized to be on the inmate person inside visitation are to be a comb, a handkerchief, a ring and religious medallion/necklace. It is the inmates' responsibility to notify the correctional officer upon entering visitation if he has on any jewelry.
  10. Any violation of visitaiton rules may result in the termination of the visit by authority of the shift supervisor through the duty warden.
  11. Visitors attempting to bring items to inmates may be restricted from the facility and all visits thereafter and/or removed from the approved visitor's list.
  12. Adults are responsible for the actions of their children and must control children at all times. Children visiting are limited to the number in which a visitor can control in a manner that does not interfere with other visitions of inmates and/or facility operations.
  13. Visitors are permitted personal contact such as hand shaking, embracing or kissing only at the beginning and conclusion of the visit. Visitors are prohibited from engaging in the following: A. Loitering in facility parking lots or premises. B. Walking or driving along perimeter roads/grounds. C. Photographing any part of the facility property. D. Loud, indecent or abusive language on facility grounds. E. Leaving vehicles unsecured, or leaving children or pets in vehicles.
  14. It is the discretion of the supervisor to suspend and/or terminate a visit which disrupts the normal flow of facility activity or also an act which is inappropriate and/or any act which threatens the security or safety of the staff, visitors, inmates or facility.
  15. Inmates may have pictures taken at visitation. Inmates must purchase a "ticket" from the inmate commissary and redeem it during visitation. Tickets are a final sale. It is the inmate's responsibility to keep up with purchased tickets.

Awards: We achieved ACA accreditation in August 2000 and were awarded a score of 100% in May 2006. We were also accredited by the Medical Association of Georgia in 2005.
