Warden: Brigham Sloan

Brigham Sloan Warden Brigham Sloan joined Corrections Corporation of America in 1996 at Bay Correctional Facility in Panama City, Florida. He started as the Human Resource Manager and promoted to Training Manager, and Business Manager. He later served as a Facility Start Up Coordinator for the Facility Support Center in Nashville, Tennessee. Prior to assuming the role of Warden at Bent County Correctional Facility, Sloan held the position of Assistant Warden at Kit Carson Correctional Center since 2001. Brigham graduated with a Bachlors Degree in Business Administration from the University of W. Alabama. He earned his Correctional Officer Basic Standards certification from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement through Gulf Coast Community College. Brigham also attended graduate school at Florida State University's College of Educational Theory and Practice.

CCA's Bent County Correctional Facility is rated as the second largest employer among Bent County Employers. At an elevation of 3,801 feet, Bent County's 984,960 acres are part of the High Plains Desert. The county boasts an average of 315 days of sunshine, with temperatures around 30 degrees in the winter and 80 degrees in the summer. Precipitation average is 12.8 inches annually. The pleasant climate in Bent County is a key element in the area's quality of life. Other Bent County features include parks and facilities, hunting, fishing, historical and cultural attractions, and recreational and community facilities.

Community Relations:

CCA's Bent County Correctional Facility has a Community Relations Board comprised of members of various outside law enforcement agencies, vendors, school officials and city/county government employees. The board meets twice a year.

Community Activities:

BCCF supports several community organizations: Local School Boosters, Clubs, and Athletic Groups, Southeast and East Central Recycling Association, Las Animas/Bent County Golf Course Advisory Board, Parent Teacher Association, 4-H Project Leaders, Bent County Deputy Officers (Reserve Officers), Las Animas/Bent County Chamber of Commerce, Bent County Development Foundation, Bent County Health Care Center Board of Directors, Bent County Fair Board. BCCF inmates also contribute to the community by participating with the Southeastern Colorado Recycling Center and by recording books and newspaper editions on tape for the blind, learning disabled and elderly.

Visitation Schedule:

VISITING DAYS AND HOURS Visiting days are Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 am to 3:50 pm. Initial processing begins at 9:30 am. Holidays are no exceptions. Visitors may stay as long as they wish during the visiting hours. Visitors will not be allowed back into the facility once they leave. In the event of over-crowding, visitation staff may first ask for volunteers to leave and then will begin terminating visitors in the order processed into the visiting room, unless the visitor has traveled more than 400 miles. Visitors arriving on or after 3:00 p.m. will not be allowed to visit that day. Processing ceases from 11:00 a.m. until approximately 12:00 p.m. each visiting day for inmate count procedures.

DENVER, COLORADO SPRINGS - I-25 South to Pueblo; Highway 50 East all the way to Las Animas. While on Highway 50, make a Right turn at 6th Street traffic light (only traffic light in Las Animas) and drive east until you see the facility on the South side of road. Right into facility parking lot.
