Cole McKennon Cole McKennon was promoted to warden at Lindsey State Jail in summer 2008. McKennon joined CCA in 1995 as program manager at Mineral Wells Pre-Parole Transfer Facility. He then served as assistant warden at LSJ before transferring back to MWPPTF as assistant warden.

John R. Lindsey facility is located in Jack County, Texas city of Jacksboro. The population of Jacksboro is approximately 4,500. Jacksboro is located west of Fort Worth and South of Wichita Falls. Jacksboro is the county seat of Jack County and is a prosperous agribusiness center as well as petroleum refining and related oil field services. Settlement began in 1855; Butterfield stages ran through community first known as Lost Creek, next Mesquiteville, then Jacksboro. Jacksboro is one of the few Texas counties to vote against secession and was the most westward settlement still standing in Texas after the Civil War. In 1870 Fort Richardson was built just south of the town to halt Indian depredations. Among regimental commanders was Col. Ronald Mackenzie of famed Mackenzie's Raiders. Fort was abandoned May 1878. Military re-enactments are held annually in November.

Community Relations:

Community Relations meetings are held each quarter. Members of the Community Relations Board include the Mayor of Jacksboro, Chief of Police, Fire Chief, Sheriff, Texas Rangers Dick Johnson and R. W. Authier , Judge Davenport, Senator Estes, Representative Hardcastle, members of the Jacksboro ISD, Perrin ISD and Bryson ISD, and various other community business people and involved citizens.

Community Activities:

Lindsey supports many community organizations including low-risk offenders participation in various local projects. Lindsey State Jail has assisted the City of Jacksboro in areas such as the Fort Richardson Park, baseball fields, city parks, recreational facilities and in the painting and maintenance of classrooms for the cites of Jacksboro ISD, Perrin ISD and Bryson ISD. In addition, the Lindsey facility is working with the City in the restoration of the railroad depot.

Programs Offered:

EDUCATION: Academic Education program focuses on General Education Development (GED) preparation and Adult Basic Education (ABE).

LIFE SKILLS is a 3 month program employing the changing habits and achieving goals to empower success (changes) program. This program prepares offenders for successful re-entry into society.

SUBSTANCE ABUSE: An A.A. (substance abuse program) led by local volunteers.

VOCATIONAL: Vocational programs include horticulture, industrial cleaning, basical electrical skills, basic construction and computer skills.

FAITH-BASED: Inmate programs are held throughout the week such as Bible studies, Inmate ministry and Taleem, Quaran study, Jehovah Witness, Jumah service. On Sunday there is a morning and evening unit worship. Church of Christ ? special program 16 week course

Take I-30 West through Grand Prairie, Arlington and through Fort Worth merge onto I-820 North Exit via. Exit 5-B. Continue on I-820 North and Exit 10A ? TX-199 West/Jacksboro Highway and merge onto TX-199 West. Continue approximately 55 miles to Jacksboro. Downtown Jacksboro TX199 West becomes N. Main /US-281. Continue on US-281 approximately ½ mile turn right onto "Old Post Oak Road" across from the Sonic Drive-in restaurant. John R. Lindsey State Jail facility is located approximately 2 miles on the right and the physical address is 1620 Old Post Oak Road.
