Warden: Michael Swinton

Michael Swinton Michael Swinton was named warden at Stewart Detention Center Facility in October 2008. Swinton joined CCA in April 2007 as assistant warden of this facility. Swinton came to CCA from the United States Marine Corps, where he most recently served as the Commanding Officer of Marine Base Brig, Camp Lejeune, NC. A 23-year veteran of the United States Marine Corrections MOS, Swinton has served in various positions from Correctional Officer to Warden/Commanding Officer.

Visitation Schedule:

Visits are limited to once per week including holidays. Visitation is a first come first serve basis only (no appointments), Sunday through Saturdays, and all designated federal holidays between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Visitation Rules:

a. Stewart Detention Center is a smoke-free facility; therefore, there is no smoking in the visitation room or any other area of the facility.

b. All Visitors are subject to a personal search. This may include a pat-down search as well as a visual search of purse, briefcases, packages, and other documents. Any visitor refusing to be searched shall not be permitted to visit.

c. Detainees are not allowed to have contact with visitor.

d. Visitors and detainee are to engage in appropriate public behavior that is fitted for a public arena and a family environment.

e. Visitors are not allowed to bring folding money to visitation. Visitors may bring up to twenty dollars ($20.00) in change for vending machines, but no bills are allowed.

f. Under no circumstances shall visitors give property or money directly to a detainee.

g. Visitors may not bring anything into the visitation. All items must be in the lockers provided at the Front Lobby. Stewart Detention Center is not responsible for lost, stolen or destroyed items stored in the Front Lobby Lockers. The only exceptions are 1 baby bottle with milk or juice for child, 1 diaper and baby wipes stored in a clear plastic bag.

h. No pagers and/ or cell phones are allowed in the visitation room or any other area of the facility.

I. Minors must remain under the direct supervision of and adult visitor, so not to disturb other visitors. Disruptive conduct by minors, accompanying adults, or detainee may cause termination of visit.

j. Children & stepchildren of detainee must poses positive identification (birth certificate) when arriving at the facility.

k. All visitors 16 years of age and older must have a valid US Government ID or Passport. Persons without proper identification will not be permitted to visit.

FEMALE VISITORS AGES 12 AND OLDER:

a. Shorts shall cover customarily covered areas of the anatomy, including the buttocks and crotch area, both when standing and sitting. Shorts no higher that mid-thigh comply.

b. Short-shorts, jogging shorts, cut-offs, and other obviously inappropriate short garments are prohibited.

c. Shirts and dresses shall extend to mid-thigh, seated d. Slits in shirts and dresses shall not extend beyond mid-thigh, seated.

e. Sheer (see though) clothing is prohibited

f. The top of clothing shall be no longer than the underarm in the front and back. Bare midriffs and strapless tops, tube top, and swimsuits are prohibited.

g. Gang "Colors" and other gang displays are prohibited

MALE VISITORS AGE 12 AND OLDER:

b. Shirts shall be worn at all times. Muscle shirts, bare mid-riff shirts and sleeveless shirts are prohibited.

c. Shoes shall be worn at all times.

d. Gang colors and other gang displays are prohibited.

From Columbus:

Proceed south on US-27 S, (US -280, Corridor Z,) for 9.6 miles, turn right onto US 27 at Cusseta, GA., proceed 19 miles, turn left at the Lumpkin exit onto GA 27 (Broad Street). Proceed to the 4 way stop. Travel for 4 blocks and turn right on Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive and proceed 1 block to Main Street. Turn left on Main Street and travel ½ mile past the city limits. Turn right on CCA Road at the CCA sign and proceed to the prison entrance.
