    CCA is the nation’s largest provider of detention and corrections services to governmental agencies.

    CCA trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol CXW.

    Founded in 1983, the company is headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee and employs more than 14,000 professionals nationwide.

    CCA has approximately 60,000 beds and currently houses approximately 53,000 inmates in 61 facilities in under contract for management in 20 states and the District of Columbia.

    The company’s full range of services includes design, construction, ownership, renovation and management of new or existing jails and prisons, as well as long distance inmate transportation services.
    TransCor America, a CCA subsidiary, is the nation’s largest and most experienced prisoner transportation company.

    CCA houses adults and juveniles, males and females, at all custody levels: minimum-, medium-, and maximum security, as well as jails, pr-release centers, and INS facilities.

    CCA is the sixth largest corrections system in the nation and represents 52% of the private sector market. Only Texas, California, the Federal Bureau of Prisons, New York,and Florida have systems larger than CCA.

    CCA’s average construction time for a new facility is approximately 12 to 18 months.

    One of the company’s primary emphases is on delivering exceptional-quality programs for inmates, in hopes of enhancing their skills and preparing them to lead meaningful, productive lives upon their release from incarceration. The company offers education, vocation, industry trade, life skills and substance abuse treatment programs.

    CCA prisons’ escape ratio was less than one-third the national average, based on the most recent data available (1999-2000). This places CCA among the best performing systems in the country.

    CCA supports local charitable causes and organizations that provide positive guidance to at-risk youth. Since 1997, the company has adopted the Boys & Girls’ Clubs of America as its national philanthropy through corporate donations, facility-based support and volunteer participation.
