A Federal Detention Center in Pahrump, Nevada

As a long-time partner of the federal government, CCA has been selected by the Department of Justice, Office of Federal Detention Trustee (OFDT), to construct a new detention center, to be located at 2250 E. Mesquite Avenue in Pahrump, Nye County, Nevada.

The 1,072-bed, $83.5 million facility will be owned and operated by CCA on behalf of the United States Marshals Service. Construction is scheduled to begin in Fall 2008, with a planned opening during the fourth quarter of 2009.

Economic and Community Impact

CCA introduces new economic stimulation to communities – funds which may be used to enhance education, health care and public works projects.

Construction of the Nevada Southern Detention Center is estimated to be $80 million and require many local products and services. During the course of construction, CCA will also be making infrastructure improvements that will benefit the community.

With Nevada Southern Detention Center, CCA will contribute an estimated $810,000 in annual property taxes and a projected $915,000 in yearly utility payments to Nye County.
