Ambulatory Services In Tallahatchie County And Surrounding Area To Be Enhanced

Corrections Corporation of America and Tallahatchie County Correctional Authority Partner to Station an Ambulance at the Tallahatchie County Correctional Facility

TUTWILER, Mississippi, July 1, 2008 – Officials for Corrections Corporation of America (CCA) and the Tallahatchie County Correctional Authority were joined by State Representative Tommy Reynolds, members of the Tallahatchie County Board of Supervisors, and others at the CCA owned and operated Tallahatchie County Correctional Facility (TCCF) to participate in a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newly added ambulance that will provide ambulatory services to the facility and surrounding communities. The ambulance will be staffed 24 hours a day, with the vehicle and employees housed on-site at TCCF.

“This is a very positive step towards enhancing the overall availability and response of ambulatory services in the region,” noted Representative Reynolds. “Citizens can have greater peace of mind that in time of need, these important services will be more readily available.”

Commenting on the importance of this new service, Warden Robert Adams with CCA pointed out that “At an 1,824-bed prison, there are obviously routine and non-routine transports to area hospitals for various medical services or emergencies. Having this ambulance on-site will enhance access to those services when needed. Helping the community, by lessening the burden on existing ambulance services while also expanding coverage to communities, is an important benefit that CCA is very proud to support.”

Jerome Little, President of the Tallahatchie County Board of Supervisors, added that “The County is proud to have reached an agreement with our partners at CCA that mutually benefits both the facility’s needs and the needs of the greater community. This is truly a win-win for everyone.”
