CCA Salutes Staff During Correctional Professionals Week
August 10, 2007
With more than 2.3 million individuals incarcerated in jails and prisons across the country, keeping these correctional facilities safe, protecting public safety and providing rehabilitation opportunities for inmates are all in a day's work for the nation's corrections professionals.
Each year, the contributions of this group of industry professionals are honored during National Correctional Professionals Week, August 13 - 17, sponsored by the American Correctional Association.
Corrections Corporation of America, the nation's largest corrections management provider to federal, state and local government agencies, employs more than 16,000 individuals in 19 states and the District of Columbia. The company's correctional employees serve in such diverse roles as correctional officers, facility administrators, counselors, academic and vocational education instructors, health care professionals, maintenance and other support staff.
"Each one of our employees is an essential part of our team. However, corrections industry employees aren't typically high-profile, and they sometimes do not receive the public recognition they deserve for the demands and discipline required of them to perform their roles effectively," said John Ferguson, CCA president and CEO. "This week lets us honor them for their commitment to providing a meaningful service to society. Our company is the nation's fifth largest corrections system, and we recognize and salute our corrections professionals for the continued integrity, respect, trust and loyalty they display while performing their challenging roles every day."
Each of CCA's 65 correctional centers and the company's headquartered office will hold a special event during the week to recognize its corrections professionals.
