State, Local and Federal Government Agencies
Government agencies have been valued CCA customers since the company’s founding contract with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE - formerly the INS) in 1983. Today, CCA is the largest corrections management provider to federal, state, and local governments. Our goal is to provide high quality, cost effectiv corrections in partnership with government. Every CCA contract is tailored to the requirements of the customer. From building construction to inmate programs, CCA has services to match each facility’s specific needs.
Federal
CCA contracts with all three federal corrections agencies. The United States Marshals Service (USMS) is one of CCA's oldest and largest clients, with more than 6,500 detainees housed in 13 CCA facilities. Additionally, CCA has established relationships with the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) and ICE, housing over 8,000 BOP inmates in five facilities and 5,800 ICE detainees in 15 facilities across the country.
State
CCA contracts with state governments across the country. Relationships with state governments may be established with CCA in several ways. The company's existing capacity of over 76,500 beds in facilities around the country offers out-of-state inmate management as a viable alternative for state agencies desiring partnerships with CCA to resolve their inmate housing needs. CCA is also in the position to aid state corrections agencies by financing, building and managing a new facility, with favorable terms for the state. States can utilize existing budget dollars for education, health care and transportation infrastructure rather than bricks and mortar for prisons - often a more popular use of budgetary funds among taxpayers.
Local
Local governments are also provided with attractive options and solutions in partnering with CCA. Local sheriffs and county officials who partner with CCA maintain oversight of jails through stringent contract monitoring while gaining a wide range of CCA corrections services. Expenditures are spelled out in the contract, so partnership with CCA provides county officials and sheriffs with greater predictability for local budgets. Additionally, a partnership with CCA can generate substantial savings on facility construction and management—savings that counties can dedicate to local law enforcement, new community safety initiatives, or other more pressing priorities, from health care to education.
